During last week class, we discussed the topic of the Wrong Expectation of Technology and how this is shown through education. We began having a quick debate on our thoughts with standardized testing and its pros and cons. This sparked a heated conversation on how everyone felt about this type of testing and how it was either beneficial or not for students in the education system. Then the presentation continued and the group discussed how the use of technology is very affective in the classroom and showed the diverse ways to use it with students. We learned how to use an online story book in place of a textbook. I found this to be the most intriguing because I liked how you can add to the book based on your students inquiry, as well as imbed other resources such as google slides, youtube videos etc. It can be helpful if students are away because it is easily accessible and versatile.
To end off the presentation, our knowledge was tested by splitting us into groups. My group had to come up with our own online resource and then answer a series of questions in preparing for a mini presentation on the online tool to the class. This allowed for us to work together and demonstrate another interactive and informative tool to use for the classroom. I found this presentation as a whole to be very enlightening and helpful.
