Teaching in a Digital World

Group C: Claire McKinnon

In a world where technology is constantly evolving and changing there are so many opportunities to incorporate technology in the classroom. The use of technology in the classroom brings forth so many possibilities that support teachers and enhance student learning. In todays Instructional Technology class we discussed the importance of having a positive attitude in a digital world. Having a positive attitude towards technology means to understand both the opportunities and challenges that technology presents. When implementing technology in schools, it is important to ensure that teachers and students are able to truly use technology in a way that benefits education and learning.

Teaching students the difference between credible and non-credible sources was one of the topics discussed that I found to be important. With the online world growing so quickly it is challenging to regulate activities in the virtual world and ensure internet safety for children. Educating students on how to use trusted sources on the internet that are reliable and safe is an essential part of incorporating technology in schools. In order to use technology effectively in the classroom, we need to provide information on the proper use of tools, apps and reliable sources.
