After enjoying two days of spring-like weather, we had our Tech Ed class on Wednesday with 15 cm of fresh powder snow! Since we didn’t have class last week, we had to do 4 presentations in one class. Our group (group D) did our presentation on Chapter 4 – The Wrong Assumptions, and taught the class about digital citizenship and how students should not race against the machines, but work collaboratively with them.
A group introduced the website of ‘FreshGrade’ for their Tech presentation, which I found super interesting. It is an easy-to-use website that allows teachers (and students) to create portfolios on the activities and assessments have done in school. I like how the website provides a platform for parents to learn about their children’s lives at school and stay in loop and engaged in their learning process. Like Tania mentioned, this way there might be less angry parents at teacher-parent interviews! The website also has a neat function where teachers can control how much of the content parents can see. Furthermore, it has a grade book function, just like Google Classroom. I love how technology is changing the traditional school system that’s heavily based on pen and paper; platforms like Google Classroom and FreshGrade are amazing for teachers (since they help us to stay organized at ease), parents, and even our planet (less paper).
