You leave foot trails every time you get online, Paul Davis made it clear that the internet is not a safe place. Internet safety is an issue now, scam, cyber bullying are happening everyday. Since avoiding internet will not be an option, we as educators and parents should prepare our children on how to be safe and make smart decisions online, children need to know the importance of safety, privacy and security in a digital world.

Today’s Tech team introduced an Google app called internet awesome that can help kids to be safe, confident explorers of the online world. I have tried one of the game called ‘don’t fall for fake’ from Interland which developed by internet awesome. The game is about touring the island by answering multiple choice questions. The questions listed different situations on scams that the children may face on internet, in order to move forward, children need to answer the questions right, otherwise, they will fall into the water. I can see the children enjoy playing the games, it is beneficial and effective for students to learn those real life skills through game play. There are also many other resources for educators and parents to teach children online safety in the classroom and home setting.

I have never heard of this app before, it is definitely a great tool to use when teaching online safety in the classroom and engage students in the topic through hands on practices and activities.
