Hello everyone, hope that everyone is safe, healthy, and avoiding cabin-fever!
We had our second Technology class online using the conference feature today, with 5 presentations. The Ed Tech presentation that Tania, Celine, Ally, Leah and Melanie did on Vooks was informative and relevant to our pandemic situation right now. Vooks is an app that provides children with a curated library of animated stories, which are great resources for practicing reading at home during our pandemic since public libraries are closed and it is difficult for children to stay engaged and practice reading and writing. However, it does cost about five dollars a month. Two strengths about Vooks are that there are lesson plans for teachers to use, and that Special Education teachers could use Vooks with other technologies for students who have visual impairments, physical disabilities or learning disabilities.
Rae, Katryna, and Dan’s lesson on endangered animals was interesting, as they incorporated Mindmeister in their lesson for group work. The website allows you to create mind-maps. We had some technical difficulties but Christian figured out how to let students join their own breakout rooms.
Stay safe everyone!
